Monday Morning Blues - Naughty or Nice - Toy Drive not buying Christmas

Our PM made the point that despite the falling oil prices her government can afford to treat the most vulnerable, the most needy, during the Christmas time, which is one of the most blessed times of the year.

As a result, Christian churches can look forward to as much as $55 million to assist the needy during the Christmas season.

Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la, la la la!!! Deck the halls with balls of holly, fa la la la, la la laaaaaa...

Our PM assured the public that the process for the awarding of the Christmas grant would be transparent and fair, ensuring equality of treatment and no discrimination across the country. In addition, MPs would be held accountable.

So Santa K is making a list and checking it twice. There would be no naughty behaviour only nice grants for all to enjoy!!!

Getting it Right? is hoping that on this occasion the country actually gets it right!!! We would be monitoring the process. Let's see...naughty or nice...

TNT's Red Herrings against Korruption

Red Herrings...Hmmm!!!

“Korruption” vs   Revelations during recent sitting of the House of Representatives

Even while President General Ancel Roget of the Oilfields Workers Trade Union (OWTU) led the Joint Trade Union Movement's (JTUM) national march against "Korruption", our PM used Parliament privileges to suggest that he is not above board when it comes to corruption.

Interestingly though, corruption is on everyone's mind, but whether Roget is guilty of the said statements or not, does not negate the fact that corruption has to be dealt with in the Nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Especially in light of the sliding of the Corruption Index and its impact on international business negotiations.

No Red Herrings Please!!! Let us stay focus on the matter at hand. We must address corruption at all levels. It is imperative!!!

"Getting it Right?" is of the view that Parliament Privileges should only be used when the greater good would be served to the majority and not as a political propaganda to divert people's focus away from the true issue under consideration, which is "Corruption".

Did Parliament get it Right??? Nope!!!

Flashback Friday - The President's Questionable Allowance

Image result for law and order symbol

Law and Order! Where is the Order? We know that the monthly tax-free housing allowance of $28,000.00 is not payable to the holder of the Office of the President in the circumstances where appropriate accommodation is provided for by the State. In this case, Trinidad and Tobago, in the event that the adjudicators got the country under consideration incorrect.

We are now aware that the State of Trinidad and Tobago provides adequate alternative accommodation to the holder of the Office of the President at Flagstaff Hill.We are yet to know exactly what amount the State pays for this accommodation. Or may be it is free!!! Anyway, that is besides the point! The point is both is not provided, it is either the accommodation is provided or the tax-free housing amount of $28,000.00.

Is anyone going to say "faire une erreur"? Forgive me if I said it incorrectly, as I am not a student of french, but I thought that a different language might be appropriate to get the message across. I am not hearing anyone speaking English, saying, "I have made a mistake!", because apparently on one has and the law, as stated, has no effect!

Did we Get it Right? Nope!!!

TTFA President, Raymond Tim Lee, says TNT did not qualify for the 2015 Women's Cup in Canada, but the players can certainly hold their heads high as a team and as a nation.

Tim Lee says that the better team lost, but that is how it is sometimes in Sport.

The ladies were commended for their resilience against the challenges both on and off the field.

Well done TTFA! Did the Football Association get that right? Yes!!! The parent body for football in TNT did well in commending the players. The best team does not always win!!!

Speed bump on a road when and car - stock photo

A speed bump is a bump in a roadway with heights typically ranging between 3 and 4 inches (7.6 and 10.2 cm). The depth of speed bumps is typically less than or near to 1 foot (30 cm).

Is Trinidad and Tobago getting this hazard free bump right? Nope!

Origin of Speed Bumps

Origin of Speed Bumps

On June 7, 1906, The New York Times reported on an early implementation of what might be considered speed bumps in the U.S. town of Chatham, New Jersey, which planned to raise its crosswalks five inches above the road level.

Arthur Holly Compton was a physicist and winner of the Nobel Prize in physics in 1927 for his discoveries resulting in major changes in electromagnetic theoryHe also invented what he called "traffic control bumps," the basic design for the speed hump, in 1953. Compton began designs on the speed bump after noticing the speed at which motorists passed Brookings Hall at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was chancellor.
